How do you see the future of physics in South Africa?

I find South Africa an exciting place in which to do physics, there are so many opportunities, new projects and talented people with great ideas. To me to it feels as though there is a lot of room to pioneer new areas of research here (for example quantum biology), while in other parts of the world there may be less funding and more competition to do a similar things.

My only worry is whether we will be able to improve the level of preparation of high school graduates here in South Africa, as well as attract more top local students to persue postgraduate studies and careers in research.
