JOHANNESBURG – SAP Africa, the software giant, has appointed prominent astronaut and multiple award winner, Dr Adriana Marais, as Head of Innovation. Based at its head office in Johannesburg, South Africa, she will lead the Internet of Things (IoT) Lab, the Co-Innovation Lab initiatives, as well as other innovation streams for SAP while taking the company’s digital platform solutions to market.
It is 2031 and the next space race has started with the launch of the largest-ever interplanetary space rocket and spaceship carrying four carefully selected astronauts on a mission to establish a human settlement on Mars – a planet that is about 225-million kilometres away.
Heading for the fourth rock from the sun, these first Martian astronauts will never return to earth: the Mars One mission is a one-way trip with no option of returning.

They are part of a panel discussion hosted by the U.S Consulate and Sci Bono. They speak about getting to Mars and what life could be like on the Red planet.
Quantum Biology Researcher Adriana Marais is on a mission to get to Mars. She’s made it onto a shortlist of 100 people vying for a place on the Mars One expedition. The project aims to send four people at a time to create a permanent colony on Mars.
